Ann Louise Anderson Blumer, age 90, Wernersville, PA., died January 6, at the Reading Hospital. The daughter of the late Robert Fulson Anderson and Mildred Loretta (Masling) Anderson, Ann was born October 14, 1934, at Jackson, Mississippi.
Upon graduation from Jackson Central High School where she was named a campus favorite, Company Sponsor of ROTC Company D, and editor of Pegasus, the literary magazine, Ann attended Millsaps College, graduating magma cum laude with a degree in English literature.
Ann made her Jackson debut in 1955, represented Mississippi in the Maid of Cotton competition, and was enrolled by the Millsaps faculty in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. As a senior she was elected Miss Millsaps. Following graduation she pursued graduate study in library science at Emory University while serving in the main library as Assistant Librarian for Serials and Periodicals.
Surviving are her husband, Frederick Elwin Blumer, and two sons: Frederick Edward Blumer who lives with his wife Elizabeth in Newland, N.C.; William Robert Blumer who lives with his wife Pamela in Sinking Spring, Pa. She is also survived by her brother, Robert B. Anderson, Wernersville, Pa., and sister-in-law, Carol Cauthen of Black Mountain, N.C. Four grown grandchildren also survive her: Ryan William Blumer, Ethan Michael Blumer, Isabelle Rose Blumer Posey, and Tea` Ruth Blumer.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11 AM, from the Chapel of Phoebe Berks Village, 1 Reading Dr., Wernersville. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday, 2/1/25 from 10 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Phoebe-Ministries, Allentown, PA, 19104. Mull Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, PA provided cremation services and is assisting the family.
