Candy Lynn (Hornberger) Althouse

Candy Lynn Althouse, 62, of South Heidelberg Township, passed away in the morning hours Sunday, August 24, 2025, in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Art A. Althouse. Born Thursday, July 4, 1963, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Gene & Anna Hornberger, Sr.  She attended Conrad Weiser High School and worked for many years at Wilson school district. She loved watching the Phillies, planting flowers, watching the hummingbirds & listening to her massive collection of windchimes from her deck. In addition, she loved Christmas and filling the area around her home with a large amount of inflatable decorations. She was an avid hunter until falling ill. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family & her beloved four legged canine child, Jojo. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Randall E. (Lauren) Giffin, Jr., & Crystal (Rich) Merkey; her step children: Art Althouse, Ben Althouse, & Angie Osborne; her grandchildren: Hayley, Dominic, Kasey, Austin, Kirstyn, Richie, Jonathan, & Callissa; her great-grandchildren: Zuri & Omar; and by her siblings: Gene Hornberger, Jr., Ed Hornberger, Adam Hornberger, & Fae Romberger. She was predeceased by her grandchildren: Jenica & Kevin. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. The Cole Funeral Home, Robesonia, is assisting the family.  www.colefh.com  To honor the memory of Candy, contributions may be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center by visiting www.foxchase.org/giving
