Elsie E (Hartman) Shartle

Elsie E. Shartle, 90, of Womelsdorf, passed away in the evening hours Friday, November 10, 2023, in her residence.

She was the wife of Robert R. Shartle.

Born Thursday, October 26, 1933, in Heidelberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Paul B. & Susan M. (née Marderness) Hartman.

A 1951 graduate of Womelsdorf High School, Elsie was a member of St. Daniel’s Lutheran Church, Robesonia, where she was the 1st female council President; a superintendent of the Sunday School; and served on many committees.

She was also the former President and Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Womelsdorf VFW, and was a proud member of the Conrad Weiser Chapter #449 OES, Womelsdorf.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Sharon K. (Scott) Shultz & Robert J. (Beth Ann) Shartle; 4 grandchildren & 14 great-grandchildren; and by her sister: Geraldine I. Yoh.

She was predeceased by siblings: Anna Mae Hickernel, Mark, Harrison, Gerald, & Paul Hartman; and by a great grandson: Gabriel E. Shultz.

The family would like to thank Bayada, Seniors Helping Seniors, and Senior Helpers.

Services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:30 AM from St. Daniel’s Lutheran Church, 480 Big Spring Rd., Robesonia, PA  19551, with the Rev. Mary Etta Mest, officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the social hall of the church.  Burial was private in Zion Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, Womelsdorf.
