George J. Martin, Jr.

George J. Martin, Jr., age 75, of North Heidelberg Twp. passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Reading Hospital with his family by his side.

He was the husband of 54 years to Sandra E. (Werner) Martin.

He was born in Reading on July 10, 1947 a son of the late Stella M. (Harting) and the late George J. Martin, Sr.

He was a 1965 graduate of Reading High School and attended the Textile Machine Works apprenticeship program.

George last worked for Exeter Ambulance and previously worked in patient transport for Health South, and also once worked at Herb Motor Company in Wernersville.

He was a member of North Heidelberg U.C.C., a member of Williamson Lodge #307 F.&A.M. in Womelsdorf, past president and past treasurer of the Checkered Flag Fan Club, and photographer for the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway. He enjoyed building race car models and oil painting.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Rebecca L. Lando, fiance of Terry Tuckey; and a grandson, Adam R. Zappacosta.

He was predeceased by a brother, Edward G. Martin; and a grandson, Andrew Joseph Zappacosta.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00am at North Heidelberg U.C.C., Robesonia.

A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00am at the Church.

Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.
