Jan M. Diefenderfer, 72, of Robesonia passed away on January 21, 2021 at the Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Valerie (Esterly) Diefenderfer to whom he was married for 49 years.
Born in Reading he was the son of the late Earnest S. and Olivia “Gladys” (Manmiller) Diefenderfer.
He was a 1966 graduate of Reading High School. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972 serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member and past trustee of the South End Gun Club as well as a number of various gun clubs. Jan was also a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America. An avid trapshooter, Jan won many events at the PSSA (Pennsylvania State Shotgunning Assn.) and a more than 20+ year member of the ATA. He especially enjoyed pheasant hunting with his 2 brittany dogs Casey & Bones, of which he will join over the rainbow bridge.
He was employed at CarTech from 1972 until retiring in 2002 and worked at Lowe’s, Sinking Spring from 2005 to 2015.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, Michael Diefenderfer; a sister, Cinda Rudy; and a brother, Jay Diefenderfer.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 1:30pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
