Karl Fink Obituary

Karl Henry Fink, 85, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022, in Sterling,VA.

Born April 13, 1937, in Womelsdorf, PA, the son of Forrest Henry Fink and Mary Elizabeth (Snyder) Fink.

He was a 1955 graduate of Womelsdorf High School. He enlisted in the United States Airforce and proudly served for four years. He traveled many places supporting his units airplane maintenance and integrity, and made some life long friends along the way. He attended business college and earned a degree. He was a Night Supervisor at New Cumberland Army Depot.

Karl married Margaret (Peggy) Walton Brown on October 14, 1962 at Friedens Lutheran Church in Myerstown, PA. They welcomed two daughters, Susan and Sharon. They were married for 53 years before Peggy passed away in August of 2016.

In 1968, he relocated with his wife and two daughters to Sterling, VA. He worked for the District of Columbia Government before moving to the United States Patent and Trademark Office where he spent the majority of his working career as an IT Contract Specialist until his retirement.

He and Peggy were long time members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Herndon, VA. They served on various committees. He also taught Sunday School and Confirmation Classes.

Karl loved his family. He was always there to help and support his family and friends. Karl was well loved in return.

He had many interests but sports was top of the list. He played baseball, basketball and ran track in high school. He loved watching sports and attending sporting events. He had a vast knowledge of sports and enjoyed conversing with family, friends and coworkers about sports which included not only the stats but the background information on the players, coaches and teams. 

Karl loved animals and adopted many into their home.

He had a great sense of humor and loved to share it with his wife, family, friends and coworkers.

Karl is survived by daughters Susan E. Bleutge (Michael) and Sharon K. Caldarola (Glenn) and granddaughters Elizabeth M. Bleutge and Stephanie K. Bleutge.

Private internment was in Womelsdorf Union Cemetery on January 6, 2023.

The Mull Funeral Home, in Womelsdorf, PA, has assisted the family.
