Martha R. Bowsard, age 83, of Wernersville passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Berks Heim.
She was the loving wife of Clayton M. Bowsard, whom she married on September 16, 1960.
Born in Reading on March 9, 1940 a daughter of the late Irvin Brestle and the late Florence (Moody) Smith.
Martha was an active volunteer with the Red Cross and enjoyed being a member of the Hampden Fire Company #6 Marching Unit Ladies Auxiliary. She had been an entertainer since she was 6 years old, she performed on the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and later performed with Shorty Long and the Santa Fe Rangers. She and her husband enjoyed riding motorcycle in their younger years. They also enjoyed traveling all over the United States including driving cross country 2 times to visit their son in California.
She loved listening to musicals, show tunes, and especially the music of Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand. She lived and breathed for her children and her grandson Zachary who was the moon and stars to her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Walter G. Hay, III; a daughter, Terry L. Tillinger; a grandson, Zachary Billman; and a brother, Larry Ochs. She was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Ochs.
Services will be private. Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.
