Mary Ann (Schrack) Bender

Mary Ann Bender, 88, of Spring Township, passed away in the evening hours, Monday, January 15, 2024, in the Mifflin Center.

She was the widow of the late Donald L. Bender, who died August 22, 2012.

Born Monday, May 27, 1935, in Myerstown, she was a daughter of the late Roy D. & Mae M. (née Troutman) Schrack.  She graduated from Myerstown High School.

Mary retired from the Reading Hospital as a House Keeping Supervisor.

She is survived by her daughters: Debra L Stover (friend John) & Donna L. Frey; her grandchildren: James Hiester, Stacey Powell, Jeremy Stover, & Nicholas Frey; six great grandchildren; and her brothers: Robert L (deceased) Schrack, wife Beverly & David L. Schrack, wife Ruth.  Several nieces and nephews.  She is survived by an Aunt Jane Ruth and Uncle William Troutman. 

She was predeceased by her son: David R. Bender, March 26, 2020.  

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Noon, from the Cole Funeral Home, 402 E. Penn Ave., Robesonia, with the Rev. Mark Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s (Hain’s) Church Cemetery, Wernersville.  Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 19, 2024, from 5-7 PM and Saturday, from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Olive Leaf Chapel or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
