Rodney D. Speiss

Rodney D. Speiss, age 62, formerly of Robesonia passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Hershey Medical Center.

Born in West Reading on February 9, 1960 the son of Joenita A. (Lauck) Speiss, who survives and the late Clarence W. Speiss, Jr.

He was a 1978 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School and attended Shippensburg University and Alvernia University.

Rodney last worked in Customer Service for Wachovia Bank.

Rod loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with family whenever possible. Becoming an uncle and great uncle was his greatest joy and was looking forward on becoming another great uncle in December.

He loved all animals and always had a cat as a companion. He loved fishing with his dad, hunting on our family land with relatives, was an avid sports fan especially any Philadelphia sports team, however the Phillies and the Eagles were his passion. He loved being involved in fantasy baseball and football leagues, alway loved a great political debate, playing chess, enjoyed finding new craft beers, and never turned down a good meal.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Gail B. widow of Rand Dellinger; a brother, Steven R. husband of Kristen Speiss; nieces & nephews, Karin Brownawell (Nate), Brian Dellinger (Doreen), Megan Speiss Butkus (Jackson), and Lauren Speiss (Nick); great nieces & nephews, Madison, Haleigh, Aiden, and Chase Brownawell, Nicholas, Matthew, Adam, Benjamin Dellinger; several cousins; and his cat, Rocky.

He was also predeceased by maternal grandparents, Russell & Emma Lauck and step-grandmother, Mildred Lauck; and paternal grandparents, Clarence W., Sr. and Emma Speiss.

On behalf of our family, we would like to thank everyone that have assisted Rod throughout the years. A special thank you to the Hershey Medical Hospital teams of Doctors and Nurses that provided Rod with exceptional care during this past week. 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 S. Robeson St., Robesonia, PA 19551. A visitation with the family will be held from 10:30 to 11:00am at the Church.

Cole Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Robesonia is handling arrangements.
