Roy E. Butler, Jr., of Millcreek Twp., Lebanon Co., passed away in the afternoon hours Monday, May 20, 2024, in his residence.
He was the husband of Elvina J. (née Gromis) Butler.
Born Tuesday, April 24, 1945, in Meyersdale, Somerset Co., he was a son of the late Roy E. Butler, Sr., and the late Dorothy (née Klink) Butler.
After graduation from High School, Roy proudly served in the US Navy from 1963-1967, completing two tours of duty during Vietnam aboard the USS Constellation and the USS Forrestal during the devastating fire on July 29, 1967. He was a truck driver for 44 years, including being an owner operator, retiring in 2012 from Yellow Freight Systems, after 27 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Tammy A. (Kurt) Widman and Roy S. (Heather) Butler; his step children: Carmela (Gary) Deck and Lisa (James) Mahaffey; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, & one great great grandchild also survive.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Catherine Butler and William Butler.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1 PM, from the Mull Funeral Home, 27 E. High St., Womelsdorf, with the Rev. Mary Etta Mest, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Heidelberg Cemetery, Robesonia.
Relatives and friends may call Friday from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
