Pastor Lynda R. Haring, 75, of the Highlands at Wyomissing, died Sunday, December 11, 2022.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Anita M. (Weisgerber) Kyd.
She was the wife of Neil A. Haring, with whom she celebrated 29 years of marriage.
Pastor Haring was a 1965 graduate of Dundee High School, Dundee, Illinois.
In 1971, she graduated from Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, with a BA & BS in Education. She completed a Theology Degree at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana, and was consecrated a Deacon in 1978.
After completing the Masters of Divinity Degree at Christ Seminary-Seminex, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1981, she was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Luke, in Chicago, Illinois. Following ordination, she was called as Latino Mission Developer at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Reading.
She also served as Pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mohnton, and Zion Lutheran Church, Womelsdorf. She retired in 2008.
Pastor Haring is a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, currently serving as an Auxiliary Support Chaplain with the men and women of the United States Coast Guard.
Pastor Haring is survived by her husband: Neil A. Haring; nephew, Robert W. Kyd (Virginia), great-niece, Jessica; great nephews: James and William Kyd; as well as many cousins in Illinois, Virginia, Connecticut, Texas, and the United Kingdom; step children: Margo K. Slichter (Thomas), Matthew J. Haring, Mark R. (Kimberly) Haring; step grandchildren: Michael Slichter (Pam), Amy Rounceville (Joshua), Olivia and Benjamin Haring; and step great-grandchildren: Kayla & Madeline Rounceville.
In addition to her parents, Pastor Haring was predeceased by a brother, Robert W. Kyd (Jacqueline)
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11 AM, at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
