William J. Lohman

Robesonia (and the rest of the world) bid farewell to a man who lived life with a twinkle in his eye, an unflappably gregarious and outgoing nature, and a limitless supply of witty remarks always at the ready. 

William J. Lohman, the doting and affectionate husband of Cheryl A. Lohman, left this world on November 8, 2023, just one day shy of his 72nd birthday—a move that could only be attributed to his impeccable sense of timing. 

Born in Kingston, PA on November 9, 1951, to the late Robert and Barbara (Bevan) Lohman, Bill was a proud King's College graduate who worked hard for the rest of his life providing for his family

By far his greatest source of pride was the 45 years he spent as the devoted other half of Cheryl. Bill's career as a retail manager left a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him, and by "impact," we mean the kind of impact that left you questioning whether you should laugh or cry—and it was usually both. 

Bill was a passionate fan of music and the performing arts, ranging from classical composition to traditional and soulful church hymns, and was a devoted supporter of local and community theater productions, in which he occasionally exhibited his acting and singing chops. Likewise, he was always in row 1 for the various dramatic (and other) pursuits of his children. He enjoyed taking trips to NYC to attend Broadway shows and could always be counted on to erupt into song when the moment presented itself. He also enjoyed traveling with Cheryl, especially when it involved an opportunity for fellowship with friends and family.

Survived by six children—Thomas F. Lohman (Kelly Gorski), David E. Lohman (Hyeyoung Jeon), J. Matthew Lohman, Benjamin E. Lohman, James E. Lohman (Catherine Gonzalez), and Malachi A. Lohman (Kevin Myers)—Bill's legacy lives on in the Lohman clan, a group as goofy and vibrant as the humorous moments they all shared at family gatherings. 

His greatest joy in life was his family, and he took particular delight in his four very intelligent and kind grandchildren—Lucidia, Zachary Issac, Elliot, and Aiden. Bill often remarked that spending time with them kept him feeling young, though, at times, his knees and back would respectfully disagree. 

In addition to his wife and children, Bill is survived by siblings who likely have enough embarrassing stories to fill a novel: David W. Lohman (Rachael), Frederick A. Lohman, John P. Lohman (Mary Ann), and Barbara A. Tanner (James). They remember him not just as a brother, but as the man behind countless jokes and shared comedic scenes at family dinners punctuated with laughter. 

Bill was predeceased by a son, Zachary L. Lohman, who undoubtedly welcomed his father with a well-deserved hug and kiss on the other side. Also preceding him was his brother, Robert L. Lohman, Jr., likely preparing a heavenly roast for the grand reunion.

We will miss his jovial facial expressions and eyebrow communications, his ever-present willingness to help people, and his abundant loyalty to his friends and family. 

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
