William L."Bill" Ludwig, 91, formerly of Robesonia, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, in the Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. As Bill was preparing for his heavenly journey, his great granddaughter was being born. His family has found great comfort and peace in this Circle of Life miracle. He was the husband of the late Nancy A. (neé Sprecher) Ludwig, who died May 19, 2020. They were married for 66 years and were devoted parents and grandparents to their family
Born in South Heidelberg Township on May 28, 1929, Bill was a son of the late Lewis H. & Ola (neé Gibbs) Ludwig. A 1947 graduate of Robesonia High School, Bill proudly served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Wernersville State Hospital for 25 years and retired from there in 1991. Following retirement, Bill continued as an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and delivered Meals on Wheels. Bill and Nancy spent countless hours enjoying and supporting their grandchildren's many events and activities.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Susan M. (Steven) Sutliff, Linda L. (Norbert) Schneider and Kathryn L. (John) Nicholas; seven grandchildren: Jared (Julie) Sutliff, Allison (Mark) Craney, Jonathan (Ashley) Schneider, Alexander Schneider, Rosalie Schneider (Evan Kane), Abigail (Adrien) Gulliver and Grace Nicholas; five great-grandchildren: Olivia Schneider, Caleb Kane and Lillian, Cameron and Keira Craney ; and his siblings: Edmund (Darlene) Ludwig & Gloria Barnett. He was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Lewis Ludwig.
Bill's daughters would like to thank the team and staff of A-2 at Berks Heim for the kindness, care and compassion they provided to Bill and his family.
A private interment will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 S. Robeson St., Robesonia, PA 19551. The Mull Funeral Home, Womelsdorf, is handling arrangements. www.mullfh.com
